Browse to the location where you downloaded the widget file. Extract the contents of the file. Double-click the .mulib file to import it into the Library. This will launch Muse if it's not already open.
Alternatively, once you’ve unarchived the file, you can import the widget into the library by clicking the Import Muse Library icon at the base of the Library Panel.
Once it's imported the new widget will appear in the Library panel as a folder containing one or more items..
Before we start, if we haven't already got one, we'll need to set up an AddThis account. This is straightforward and only takes a few minutes.
In order for the widget to work, we'll need to set the corresponding sharing tools on the AddThis site. These are found in the Dashboard under Tools.
Click the Add New Tool button. Choose the type of sharing widget you want to enable. We've picked the Inline Sharing Button here. Set them up to suit your requirements. Remember to enable them, otherwise they won't appear on the your Muse page.
Once you've enabled the tools, you'll need grab a copy of your new AddThis ID. This is found under the General section of your Profile Options page. This can be accessed by clicking the 3 dots next to Get the Code in the header on the AddThis dashboard.
Copy the ID to the clipboard or better still, store it in a text file on your computer, the profile ID never changes, so it will save you time in the future.
Go to the Simply AddThis folder in the Library panel. There are two versions of the widget as AddThis changed their code a while ago. If you signed up more than a few months ago, use the one labeled legacy, otherwise use the later version.
Drag the widget onto the canvas. Paste your AddThis ID into the Profile ID field of the widget's options. Don't worry about the warning message, this is because the widget still has the default settings.
Open the Tool Type drop-down menu in the widget options. Select the AddThis toolbox you want to display on the page; remember, you'll need to make sure it's been set up on your profile as well.
You should see a live render of the AddThis toolbox you chose, the Inline Share buttons in our example.
If you don't see the buttons, use the following checklist to help troubleshoot:
With the widget set up, you can preview and publish the site and start getting shares and follows. These can be tracked using your AddThis dashboard analytics.
If you have selected one or more of the auto-generated options (e.g. sharing sidebar), they will display alongside the inline options, regardless of whether you explicitly select them. They can be selectively disabled via your dashboard, if required.
